What Types of Trips are Offered?
There are options for pretty much everyone at Wilderness Aware no matter what your age or level of experience is. They offer both half and full-day trips, multi-day trips, group trips, family trips, inn-to-inn trips, scout troop trips, adult trips, youth group trips, and advanced rafting trips.
The half-day and full-day trips are the most popular, and they are usually done in the Browns Canyon on the Arkansas River. People usually have trouble deciding whether the half-day trip or the full-day trip is better for them, so here is a quick break down of the difference.
The full-day trip starts in Buena Vista about two and a half hours south of Denver. It goes through three rapids in the very beginning before slowing down into calmer waters. After floating along for a little while, adventurers will stop and have a relaxing lunch. Following lunch, rafters go into the beautiful Browns Canyon before hitting a couple stronger rapids and ending the day. This option is great for people who have a lot of energy and want to get out and explore.
The half-day trip begins south of the office at Fisherman’s Bridge, and it’s similar in length to the first half of the full-day trip. This option is good for people who have younger children or people who are still just a little bit unsure about whether or not white water rafting is for them.
Another option for the people who really want to get out and experience nature is the multi-day trip. There are three different choices for the multi-day trip: two days, three days, and five days. All of these trips begin at the same location- just north of Buena Vista at the start of The Narrows section. The company provides all of the meals on these trips, including coffee, so all you have to worry about is keeping yourself dry and having fun.
If camping isn’t really your thing, you can still do a multi-day trip with the inn-to-inn trip. Not only do you get to enjoy the nature and the rapids, but you also get to enjoy all of the comforts of home at the all-inclusive inns. You have all of your meals provided and get happy hour drinks and appetizers.
If you still aren’t convinced that white water rafting is for you, that’s ok. Wilderness Aware also offers all kinds of other fun adventure style activities. They offer both horse riding tours throughout the beautiful scenery of Colorado and zip lining high up above the ground. Both of these options are exciting, and they can also be combined with white water rafting for an adventure filled vacation.
