5 Tips For Finding Cheap Airfares

In the quest for a budget holiday, one of your very first tasks should be securing a cheap flight. To help you with this, we’ve listed 5 quick tips below to give you a head start on finding a terrific deal.

Book in Advance

If possible, you should book your flight several months before you depart. If I’m booking a holiday (especially if it’s overseas) I’ll book the flights at least 2 or 3 months in advance. Airlines constantly offer early bird specials so give yourself the best chances of securing a deal and book early.

Be Flexible

Depending on the website you use, you may be asked whether your travel dates are flexible or not. There is a very good reason for this, flying on the weekend is typically more expensive than during the week, so if you’re flexible with the day you fly on, it greatly increases the chances of finding a cheap ticket.

Travel Light

If you don’t read the airlines luggage allowances carefully, you may be slugged with a hefty fee once you arrive at the airport. You can prevent this by travelling as lightly as possible and finding out exactly how much you’re allowed to check-in with and take on board with you.

Connecting Flights

Understandably, most people prefer the convenience of flying directly. However, if you can put up with the slight hassle of switching planes mid-journey, you may end up saving quite a bit extra in the process.

Search Thoroughly

With a plethora of travel websites available to search on, you can get a comprehensive list of flights to your desired destination within seconds. Sit down and spend the time hunting out a deal, you’ll be surprised with just how low some of the fares are. Once you’ve found a bargain, don’t stop there, take it to your local travel agent and see if they’ll beat the price. A small win here and there will greatly add up over time.

The key to finding a cheap flight simply comes down to patience and hard work. If you put the time and effort in, you’ll find an extremely affordable flight which will get your budget holiday off to a successful start.
